Planning for a unique 2020 VBS experience

Pondering Vacation Bible School and wondering what it will be like this year? You’re not alone. Join an online discussion with other children’s ministry leaders, Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware (BCM/D) Children’s Ministry and VBS Consultant Kris Buckman, and LifeWay Kids Ministry Specialist Melita Thomas at 2 p.m.on April 21.

Thomas will share the plans from Kids Ministry leaders around the country.

Buckman said that with the future uncertain in light of the coronavirus and social distancing, some churches may move to Backyard Bible Club formats, “cluster” groups, a fall version of VBS, or a winter break event. There are many possibilities.

There will be a time of sharing and a Q&A time.

Buckman said they will also address VBS budgeting and training.

“No matter what the coming months bring in the midst of the global pandemic, we urge you not to cancel VBS altogether,” Buckman urges. “Whatever June, July, or August may look like, children and families will be hungry for programs such as VBS. We may have to make modifications if we are still living under restrictions, but together, we can still make an effort to minister to children and families through VBS. Please know you are not alone, we’re in this together with you, and that we are here to help you.

The event will take place via Zoom. Register online to receive a link to join the call. If you have questions, or need additional information, email Kris Buckman or call 800-466-5290, ext. 233.

In addition, a free download our VBS Safety Checklist is available on the BCM/D’s website.
