Kettering Baptist Church Missions
This year Mission Teams from Kettering Baptist Church (KBC), Upper Marlboro, have experienced great moves of God in Parika, Guyana; Ghana, Cape Coast West Africa; Lake Charles, Louisiana and Baltimore, Maryland.

KBC sent a small team of three including Pastor Bucas Sterling, First Lady Carolyn Sterling and Missions Director, Laniera Jones, to Parika, Guyana where they assisted the Parika Baptist Church with the conducting of VBS to over 200 children and youth ages 3 to 18 years old. Nearly 50 children gave their lives to Christ.

Lives were changed as well through the evangelistic preaching sessions that happened during the night. In the women’s session led by First Lady Sterling, many women experienced a breakthrough in their longstanding bondages and lives were delivered and changed.

The lives of many men were also transformed through the men’s sessions and preaching opportunities presented through the leadership of Pastor Sterling. This ten-day mission experience was amazing! We are delighted to have had the opportunity to serve God.

A team of six KBC members traveled to Cape Coast, Ghana to partner with Church on Purpose, Cape Coast and share the love of Christ. On the trip, the team visited several schools where we shared the gospel with students and staff and exchanged conversations about culture in the US and Ghana. We walked several communities, sharing the gospel, teaching and encouraging people. God drew 52 people into a relationship with Him during the trip. We also hung mosquito nets for residents to help with malaria prevention.

Finally, we visited the two villages (Oben Krow and Thompson villages) KBC has been partnering with to provide clean drinking water and restrooms (building a school will be the next project). It was awesome to see the progress and hear stories of decreased death and illness due to access to clean water. God showed up and showed out during the team’s time there.

The team sent to Baltimore Maryland served the youth dinner at the Rafa Youth Ministry event, bagged bottles of water for distribution at the food pantry, and taught children from Baltimore City how to fish. The youngest ever sponsored angler, 18 years old Reece Tremaglio from Dunkirk, Maryland, came out to encourage the children in their effort.

This is the same community in South Baltimore that was recently devastated as a result of a mass shooting. The team was able to encourage and support leaders of the City of Refuge as they continue ministry work in the area.

Kettering partnered with Youth With a Mission (YWAM) Prince George’s for a trip to Lake Charles, Louisiana, where the team painted a school ravaged by a hurricane, to ensure its readiness for the school year; they also did mall evangelism and encouraged residents of the area in Christ.

We thank the Lord for his provision, protection and guidance during these mission trips this summer. Although we traveled near and far to share, we remember that there is a ripe mission field around us every day, we just have to keep our spiritual eyes open and have obedient and willing hearts. Just a Bottle of Water in Jesus’ Name
Youth from Compass Church Salisbury, headed to Salisbury Park to hand out water bottles and invitations to families enjoying a day at the Salisbury Zoo and Ben‘s Red Swings. Giving away the bottles provided opportunities for conversation, and smiles. Afterward, the group went to a nearby Dairy Queen.
