For: Church leadership, staff, and volunteers
YOU ASKED AND WE MADE IT HAPPEN!
Many churches have asked for in-person sexual abuse awareness training for their church staff and volunteers. Kris Buckman is now a certified sexual abuse awareness trainer through Plan to Protect®! If your church does not use an online provider for sexual abuse awareness training, such as MinistrySafe or Protect My Ministry, BCM/D is pleased to offer an in-person alternative. It is strongly recommended that church leadership and anyone serving children, youth, and vulnerable adults are trained in abuse awareness.
Sexual abuse awareness training is the first line of defense in preventing and responding to sexual abuse and sets the foundation for a church’s policies and procedures. Anyone working with children must be able to recognize the signs and symptoms of abuse, understand the grooming process of predators, and know how to appropriately respond when abuse is suspected, witnessed, or disclosed. All of which will be covered in this training.
Participants will be quizzed on the material at the end of the session, and upon successfully passing, they will receive a certificate of completion (good for one year). Certificates should be placed in the participants’ personnel file.
This is the first recommended essential in BCM/D’s Pathways process: TRAIN, SCREEN, PROTECT, REPORT, CARE.
