With the conflict expected to rage for some time to come, Send Relief is working with partners in the area to quickly assess the needs of the hundreds of thousands of Jews, Arabs and others reeling from the effects of war and displacement.

Send Relief is working with Baptist Village, a camp and conference center near Tel Aviv, to provide urgently needed refuge and resources for vulnerable and displaced people during this war. The center has been a place of refreshment and reconciliation since the late 1940s.

As of December 4, 2023: Giving by Southern Baptists to Send Relief is $1,015,000.00.

Please note, The best current way for Southern Baptists to respond is by praying and giving.

Prayer Requests:

  1. Pray for those affected in the ongoing conflict in Israel, the West Bank, and Gaza.
  2. Please pray for our Christian partners serving in this crisis during the Christmas season, who are ministering in the midst of grief and loss, not unlike Herod’s violence after the birth of Christ.
  3. Pray for peace and an end to the conflict. Pray for healing for those who are injured and grieving through loss and trauma.
  4. Pray for believing brothers and sisters to look to God as their source of safety, security, and peace. Ask that their faith will shine brightly during this dark time.
  5. Pray for wisdom and discernment for leaders as they make potential life and death decisions.
  6. Pray for the lost. Pray that those who have an incomplete view of God’s goodness and grace will come to know Jesus as Savior.
  7. Pray for Send Relief as we partner with Baptist representatives to provide compassionate relief aid and trauma care to those suffering in this time of violence and conflict.

“Then Herod, when he saw that he had been outwitted by the wise men, flew into a rage. He gave orders to massacre all the male children in and around Bethlehem who were two years old and under, in keeping with the time he had learned from the wise men. Then what was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet was fulfilled: A voice was heard in Ramah, weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children; and she refused to be consoled, because they were no more“ (Matthew 2:16-18).

Tragically, violence and bloodshed mark this season of Christ’s birth in the Holy Land much like the time of Christ’s first coming. May we be reminded this Christmas season of the weeping, mourning, and loss that continues this Christmas season, and our Brothers and Sisters who are ministering and demonstrating the love and hope of Christ amid sin’s violence.
