“Stoll-en” Moments: An Invitation

When a friend sends me an invitation to an event, I am excited to receive it. That person thought of me and specifically wanted me to be a part of their special event, their celebration. As I think about you, our pastors, church staff, and church members, I want to invite you to our 2023 BCM/D Annual Meeting! It will be held on November 10-11 at Kettering Baptist Church.

I think about our annual meeting as a gathering of our BCM/D family…a family reunion. However, it’s so much more.

Scripture says: “Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” Hebrews 10:24-25 (NLT)

Any time we can gather together to worship our Lord, that alone is something to be celebrated…and we will worship! We will hear God’s word preached.

I’m excited about our renewed emphasis on church partnership. We want to partner with you to reach a world that desperately needs Jesus. We can do more together than we can apart. Imagine the power of coming together and asking God to draw us close to accomplish something much bigger than ourselves.

Imagine the power of hundreds of us crying out to God for His will to be accomplished in our lives, our churches, and our communities! Prayer moves the hand of God! At this celebration, we will pray together.

It takes an army of people to meet a multitude of needs. We are part of God’s army in Maryland/Delaware. The needs are many. I pray that we respond.  The world will know we are Christians by our love. We will leave this meeting even more motivated to serve.

Some are struggling. This gathering will be a place where among believers, you will be encouraged. We all need encouragement.

May I ask you a few questions?

Do you long to see every man, woman, and child who knows Jesus actively share Jesus? We will celebrate this at our annual meeting as we want to partner with our churches to equip their people to share Jesus where they live, work, and play.

Do you want to see a move of God among individuals and families affected by disabilities? We will celebrate our continued push into sharing the Gospel and church inclusion of individuals affected by disabilities. There will be greeters who love Jesus at our annual meeting who will be happy to see you.  These greeters are affected by disabilities, and we will see the power of God displayed in them. And our special guests want to worship with you!

Do you desire to partner together to better love and serve individuals in desperate need? We will celebrate partnership with our churches as we move forward together to minister to those in your communities who live in the daily reality of poverty.

Do you believe we can be ready together to provide relief when disaster strikes? We will celebrate together by being “BCM/D Ready,” assisting communities when natural or social disasters occur.

Do you long to see individuals struggling with their mental health receive Gospel-centered counseling? We will celebrate partnership with our churches as we together bring more awareness of and collective resources to individuals in need of this help.

We can do more together than we can apart. Can this annual meeting be a launching point for a renewed partnership? I believe it can. BCM/D staff, associational directors of missions, and more than 400 churches across this convention can do all of this and much more if we work together, relying on God to give us what we need.

I look forward to our gathering together! May God bless us as we serve Him!
