OCEAN CITY, Md. — Messengers at The Gathering, the 189th Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware (BCM/D) Annual Meeting, unanimously elected Ron Blankenship as convention president.

Danny Moore, pastor of First Baptist Church of Damascus, nominated Blankenship for the role. He highlighted Blankenship’s long and faithful service as director of missions for the Montgomery Baptist Association (MBA), where the number of affiliated churches has grown from 42 in 1999 to 92 today—representing a remarkable diversity of language groups.

Moore also cited Blankenship’s leadership as BCM/D first vice president, president of the Baptist Foundation, and his service on multiple committees of the BCM/D General Mission Board. Additionally, he has invested in church planting efforts through coaching and assessment.

Quoting Blankenship from a previous BCM/D article, Moore read, “Executive Director Tom Stolle, Associate Executive Director Mark Dooley, and all BCM/D staff have worked tirelessly to build great relationships with associations and churches. The future is bright as we work together in spreading the Great Commission of Jesus Christ.”

Moore added, “I can tell you firsthand, he puts his faith in action—and he’s ready to serve.”
