Reporting from the War Room
Recently, we announced that one of the offices in the BCM/D building in Columbia has been “promoted” to a War-room. It is a prayer room devoted to advancing Christ’s cause. It is a place where we focus on church plants, missionaries, missions, outreach events, and more among churches in our convention.
The War-room has seen the battle of prayer carried to the throne of God for these missions.
Individuals from BCM/D have come to the War-room to share their church’s missions and to pray for other churches on mission. It was exciting for me to meet people from our churches and pray with them in the War-room.
My number one takeaway is that BCM/D churches are reaching the world!
WE ARE PRAYING FOR THE FRUIT FROM RECENT MISSIONS
We are praying for the fruit to bloom from missions that happened in May. These include the UMB campus ministry students on an international mission, a church in our convention that had a mission to a closed country, and another church with a team who went to Guatemala.
IN THE WAR ROOM, WE PRAY AS THE WORLD COMES TO THE BCM/D
We are praying for Ocean City Baptist Church as they reach the many young internationals who come to work during their summer in the hospitality industry. Pray for the many volunteers and interns from across the region. We were delighted to help coordinate the delivery of 71 health kits for this ministry and have another batch prepared for distribution.
WE ARE PRAYING FOR THOSE IN THE FIELD
We are praying for people from our churches and collegiate ministries in many places this summer. We are excited to pray for a collegiate new convert who is spending the summer on mission in South Asian Peoples.
WE ARE PRAYING FOR THOSE WHO ARE IN PREPARATION
We pray for the team from one of our churches serving in Louisiana July 5 – 11 to help with hurricane reconstruction and evangelism. We are also praying for a church in our convention that is preparing a mid-July mission to a previously unreached people group.
WE ARE PRAYING FOR OUR NEW MISSIONARY
James Edinger from Ogletown Baptist Church in Delaware has answered the call to be a missionary to Africa. We are committed to praying for him. We have his picture on the wall next to one of our world maps.
WE ARE PRAYING FOR THE IMB MISSIONARIES FROM MD/DE
Three IMB missionaries from Maryland/Delaware have Birthdays in July—one on July 3rd and two on July 20th. If you come to the War-room, you can pray for them.
WE ARE PRAYING FOR THE UPCOMING MISSIONS
We are excited to pray for a new Baptist Collegiate Ministry work starting on a college campus in Montgomery County. We are also praying for Christ Creative Baptist Church, which has an outreach on July 15 — a drive-thru prayer event.
Additionally, we are praying for VBS throughout our convention.
