Churches Partner for Night to Shine
Pleasant View Baptist Church, Port Deposit and First Baptist Church of North East partnered to host their first Tim Tebow Night to Shine prom for individuals with disabilities. PVBC hosted the event at their church. “We were all excited about it,” said Morgan Hill, a member of FBCNE and a coordinator for the event.

Asked about highlights, Hill said, “The guests loved the limo rides, and the red carpet was a big thing. We had a girl who was celebrating her birthday. She had just turned 14, and we all sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to her, and then she sang to us.”

Another huge part of the prom was the entrance of three dogs – two Labs and a Great Dane, brought by representatives from Paws for People. Hall said everyone enjoyed seeing the dogs, and many were interacting with them.

One guest, Amber Stewart, a member of PVBC, wrote and illustrated a children’s book, “Sassy Sally and her Little Dog Suzi Celebrate Birthdays,” and copies were added to all the guest bags.

Hill said she and others were thankful for how smooth the evening went, especially for the first time.

Other Maryland/Delaware churches hosting Night to Shine proms were Emmanuel Church, Huntingtown, Faith Glen Burnie, First Baptist Church Waldorf, and Cresthill Church, Bowie.  Most reported extremely high numbers this year, and all were thankful for their many community partners and supporters.

Assisting Women
The Transformation Center in Brooklyn, through their partnership with Share Baby, was able to support five women and children from Asylee Women Enterprise with brand-new car seats. Asylee Women Enterprise supports asylum seekers, foreign-born trafficking survivors, and other forced migrants as they navigate the immigration legal process, heal from past trauma, and rebuild their lives in Maryland.
