November Church Highlights
Looking back over November and ahead to Christmas, BCM/D churches continue to love and serve their communities with the goal of sharing the gospel. Below is just a sampling of our outreaches among hundreds throughout Maryland/Delaware. We have also included funeral arrangements for Brian Tubbs, the beloved pastor of Olney Baptist Church who died on Dec. 3.
IMB: How cancer challenged my beliefs and strengthened my trust in God
By Jenna Morehart, IMB missionary
My family and I went to serve with the International Mission Board in Portugal in 2017. Like many of my friends on the mission field, I felt the IMB knew me better than I did following a slew of medical exams, tests, labs and needed vaccinations.
BCM/D GMB Welcomes New Leadership and Gives Thanks for God’s Blessings
Newly elected Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware (BCM/D) President Ron Blankenship called the Dec. 2 General Mission Board (GMB) meeting at South Shore Church to order, welcoming board members and acknowledging the faithful service of outgoing President Fred Caudle.
Arundel Association Youth Partner for “The Big Serve”
Earlier this year, students from several Arundel Baptist Association churches gathered for The Big Event at Wonderfly Arena—an energetic night filled with games, pizza, worship, connection, and a clear gospel presentation.
In November, that momentum took a new turn—toward serving others. Youth from five Arundel Association churches worked together for The Big Serve — collaborating for missions.
When Campus Revival Fuels Church Renewal
It has long been a strategy, a goal, and a prayer of BCM/D collegiate leaders to see Christian students mentored, encouraged, and equipped to make disciples who lead in Maryland/Delaware churches and beyond. God is answering that prayer — and Valley Baptist Church is a powerful example.
Once struggling to survive, Valley has found new life by focusing on young adults and collegiate ministry.
Peanut Butter & Jelly and a Heart for the Hurting
It was a chilly, damp morning on Nov. 22, just days before Thanksgiving, when John Hormess arrived at Creekside Community Church in Dundalk to prepare for the church’s monthly “My Father’s Pantry” outreach. Volunteers soon joined him, loading hot food, clothing, Bibles and other supplies to take to a nearby park. By the time everything was set up, the sun was shining and neighbors were already making their way to the tables.
