Morgan Davis Elected MD/DE WMU President
By Morgan Davis
Editor’s Note: Morgan Davis was elected president of the Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU) of Maryland/Delaware during the organization’s annual meeting at Camp Wo-Me-To. She succeeds Dale Jones, who served for seven years. Below is a post she shared about her new position.
With trembling and excitement, I am so overjoyed to share that on Nov. 1, at the Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware’s Woman’s Missionary Union Annual Meeting, I was nominated and then named the next president of WMU MD/DE.
For more than 136 years, National WMU has mobilized churches to fulfill the Great Commission—equipping believers of all ages to live on mission by creating missions discipleship resources for every age group in the church, offering opportunities to serve through compassion ministries, and training members through leadership development.
Locally, WMU has always held a special place in my heart. Spending the past two years with girls in grades four through 12 at Camp Wo-Me-To—watching them grow in love with Jesus, pray together, and discover their place in His mission—has been such a testament to what the Holy Spirit is doing in our young people when they realize how vital they are to God’s kingdom right now.
I’m thankful to the Lord for those who have prayed, encouraged, and led the way before me. It was such an honor to meet a former president this weekend, Dottie Templeton, who served from 1973–78, and to spend time listening to her nuggets of wisdom.
To now serve in this capacity is both humbling and deeply meaningful. I am honored to help continue this mighty legacy of God alongside an incredible team of women, including BCM/D WMU Executive Director Melody Knox and board members Spring Lee (who serves as WMU Girls Camp director), Allison Lambert Hughart, Monica Cole, and Quenzilla Lattimore, and others who believe the Great Commission belongs to every believer and every generation.
Together, we’ll keep equipping the church to make disciples of Jesus who live on mission—right here and to the ends of the earth.
I am joyfully expectant for all that Jesus has in store for BCM/D churches and the communities that will be impacted for Christ through this global ministry.
To God alone be all the glory!
