A Man After God’s Own Heart
The BCM/D Men’s Conference is designed to equip and empower men to grow in their faith and live out their calling as strong, godly leaders. This year’s theme, “A Man after God’s Own Heart,” will guide participants in deepening their relationship with God and living with purpose and integrity. The conference will feature powerful messages along with breakout sessions that provide practical tools and discussions on how to align your life with God’s heart. Whether you’re seeking spiritual growth or a community of like-minded men, this conference promises to challenge and encourage every participant in their walk with Christ.

Our Speakers
Joel Kurz
Joel Kurz serves as lead pastor at The Garden Church in Baltimore, MD. He is the executive director of ONE HOPE, a ministry focusing on planting churches in the poorest urban neighborhoods. Joel additionally serves as the Executive Director for the Baltimore Baptist Association. He is a graduate of Spurgeon Baptist Bible College (BA) and The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv). Joel lives with his wife, Jess, and their four children in their church’s west Baltimore community.
Dan Hyun
Pastor Dan Hyun is the founding pastor of The Village Church in Baltimore. He now works with the BCM/D to equip the larger Church to experience God’s formative presence with a vision for deeper reconciliation and mission. Dan is the author of “The Bible in 52 Weeks for Men.”
Jamaal E. Williams
Jamaal E. Williams is lead pastor of Sojourn Church Midtown in Louisville, Kentucky, and president of Harbor Network. He’s a native of Chicago and holds a DEdMin in black church leadership from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Jamaal is the co-author of In Church as It Is in Heaven (InterVarsity, 2023) a book exploring how the gospel shapes a multiethnic kingdom culture with Timothy Paul Jones. Jamaal and his wife Amber have five children. Parenting and ministry remind him daily to depend on Jesus, who fuels everything he does.
Breakouts
All in the Family: Pastor Colin Pugh, Clinton Baptist Church
This session focuses on how a man can love and lead his family well, following David’s example as a father, husband, and leader. We’ll discuss how to cultivate a godly home, balance responsibilities, and model Christ-like love to those entrusted to you.
Leading the Mighty Men: Pastor Jamie Caldwell, South Shore Church
Effective leadership is key to influencing those around you. This session will delve into what it means to be a godly leader, taking inspiration from how David led his mighty men. You’ll learn practical insights for leading with courage, integrity, and a heart after God’s own will.
Pursuing Peace in a Divided Kingdom: Pastor Keith Myer, Matthew 5:9
In a world full of division, this session will help men discover how they can be peacemakers, just as David sought peace in a divided Israel. We’ll explore practical steps for promoting reconciliation, unity, and godly peace in our relationships and communities.
Stewarding Kingdom Resources: Tom Stolle, BCM/D
This session will teach men how to manage their finances wisely, offering biblical principles for stewarding resources in a way that honors God. Learn how to align your financial decisions with God’s kingdom priorities and become a faithful steward of the resources He has entrusted to you.
Practical Rhythms for the Heart: Dr. Dan Hyun, BCM/D
This session will help men discover and develop regular habits that nurture a heart after God. We’ll explore spiritual disciplines, daily rhythms, and practical routines that deepen your relationship with God, fostering a lifestyle of intentional growth and devotion.
Beyond the Trauma - A Man’s Road to Restoration: Pastor Brian Bailey, L.C.P.C
This session will focus on helping men to identify and address personal trauma in order to move towards mental and emotional healthiness.
Physically Fit For Battle: David Kuti
In this session, we will explore how to be physically fit in life similar to David’s strength and preparation for battle. Learn how maintaining physical health equips us for the challenges of life and strengthens our ability to serve God with energy and resilience.
One Generation to the Next: Pastor Adam Muhtaseb, Redemption City Church
This session will focus on how older men and younger men work in partnership in the local church. When older men and younger men work together, they can strengthen the church, build lasting relationships, and pass down a legacy of faith to those who will carry it forward.
Making Mighty Men of Valor: Brad Smith, Men of Valor
This session is designed to deepen your understanding of men’s ministry, equipping you to better minister to and support men in your church. We’ll look at how to raise up men of courage, faith, and valor who are ready to take on God’s calling for their lives.
Going to War: Pastor Jamaal E. Williams, Sojourn Church Midtown
This session will equip men to confront and overcome the daily temptations that they face. Drawing on biblical principles, we’ll discuss practical strategies for standing firm in the face of temptation, strengthening your resolve, and living with a heart that honors God in every circumstance.
Growing Kingdom Resources: Pastor Aaron Groen, Blue Trust, INC.
In this session, men will learn how to manage resources not just for personal gain but for kingdom impact. We’ll discuss how to align financial stewardship and other resources with God’s purposes, empowering you to make a lasting impact beyond your own life and into God’s kingdom.
