Trainings Offered:

  • Introduction to Southern Baptist Disaster Relief
    Required for all new volunteers. This class will give an overview of the work of Disaster Relief and ministry with disaster survivors. We will also cover what to expect on a disaster response, what to bring, etc.
  • Chainsaw and Recovery
    This class will overview the work of the recovery and chainsaw team beginning with the assessment process to what we do when we arrive on site to when we depart. Discussion will focus on flood recovery, tear out, and temporary repairs with emphasis given to safety. The Recovery 3 trailer will be available to review the equipment that is used and for discussion of safety equipment. The primary area of focus will be flood recovery/mudout. Although this is a physical ministry, many tasks do not require physical strength.
  • Administration and Communication
    This class is an overview of what happens behind the scenes during a deployment. We will discuss methods and tools for managing job requests, camp operations (including housing, meals and other support items), dealing with people (both the customer and our volunteers) and the general mechanics of running a smooth operation. If available, students may find it useful to have a smart phone, tablet, or laptop with them.

Please select which training you would like to take. New volunteers, you will need to take Introduction to Disaster Relief in addition to another class, even if you watched the online video. Returning volunteers, please select two classes you would be interested in taking.

Please bring your laptop or a device in which to log into your DR profile. Also, if applicable, please bring your DR badge with you.

$30.00 for new volunteers and $20.00 renewing volunteers
(cash and checks accepted at the door only)
