Course descriptions are as follows:
Introduction to Southern Baptist Disaster Relief
Feeding Team
Feeding volunteers prepare and serve large quantities of food using Disaster Relief equipment. In this course, participants will gain hands-on instruction in large-scale food preparation, kitchen safety, and operating mobile feeding units. (The review of 5 training videos and a written self-check must be submitted to [email protected] prior to receiving your DR badge)
Recovery Team
Recovery volunteers assist homeowners by cleaning and restoring personal dwellings after a disaster. In this class, participants will learn debris removal techniques, mud-out procedures, temporary repairs, and safe work practices in challenging environments.
Shower/Laundry Team
The shower/laundry team provides important support to our volunteers, other responders and the community during disaster response. Volunteers will learn procedures for all stages of the laundry process from initial guest contact to returning clean laundry, with an emphasis on safe operation of equipment and spiritual care ministry.
Shower/Laundry Trailer Set-Up
While the shower/laundry team focuses on providing direct ministry to survivors and disaster responders, the trailer set-up crew does the work of physically setting up the trailer, keeping everything running and preparing the trailer for departure at the end of a deployment. If you’re mechanically inclined, please consider taking this hands-on class!
