CAPITOL HEIGHTS, Md. — Over two Sundays this spring, Good Shepherd Ministries witnessed what Senior Pastor Mark J. Roy calls a joyful celebration in the life of the church: 19 individuals publicly confessed their faith in Jesus Christ through baptism on May 31. The following Sunday, June 7, those same 19 — joined by four additional individuals, 23 in all — were welcomed as disciples into the Good Shepherd church family through the right hand of fellowship.
“It was a result of years of prayer, faithful preaching, teaching, discipleship, community outreach, and the support of partners like BCM/D,” Roy said.
The congregation’s continued focus, Roy says, has been fulfilling Christ’s command to “go and make disciples” (Matthew 28:19).
And the impact will reach far beyond the numbers. Each baptism represented a changed life. Each new disciple strengthens the church family and expands the ministry’s ability to serve others and carry the gospel throughout the Capitol Heights community.
Roy hopes other BCM/D churches will see in Good Shepherd’s story a simple encouragement: God is faithful. Years of steady prayer, preaching, discipleship, and outreach bear fruit in His timing.
