Thanksgiving Day!  It’s just a day away!  While we as believers should maintain an attitude of consistent thankfulness for all that God has done, for me Thanksgiving Day serves as a reminder to deeply reflect on the many blessings that God has provided.

The Bible says in 1 Chronicles 16:34 (NLT), Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.

God wants us to consistently thank Him. Through the good and the bad, we are to remain thankful. Recognizing that God loves us, and His love is unchanging, allows us, even in the middle of the toughest of times, to know that He has us in His hands. There are always things to be thankful for!

What am I thankful for? Many things (far too many to list in a short article), but I’ll share a few with you.

  • I’m thankful to serve on the BCM/D staff.
  • I’m thankful for the churches within the BCM/D.
  • I‘m thankful for pastors and their wives and families.
  • I’m thankful for the men and women that I serve alongside of at the BCM/D.
  • I’m thankful for BCM/D ministry partnerships with the International Mission Board, North American Mission Board, and various other entities.
  • I’m thankful for our directors of missions and the local associations they serve.
  • I’m thankful to serve in a convention that prioritizes ministry to individuals and families affected by disabilities.
  • I’m thankful for the work of the BCM/D sexual abuse task force and how they have prioritized helping churches to have policies and procedures in place to protect the vulnerable.
  • I’m thankful for the many church plants that have been started in Maryland/Delaware.
  • I’m thankful for Skycroft Conference Center and the many salvations and lives that are changed through the camp ministry.
  • I’m thankful for parents who taught me about Jesus.
  • I’m thankful for my two younger brothers and the years we spent together.
  • I’m thankful for my wife Shelley. (I don’t know what she saw in me to agree to become my spouse and my life partner but I’m sure glad she did.)
  • I’m thankful for my three sons J.T., Jake, and Jimmy.
  • I’m thankful for Jimmy’s autism and other associated disabilities as it has opened my eyes to so much.
  • I’m thankful for the many who have prayed for me and my family.
  • I’m thankful for a God that loves me and died for me.
  • I’m thankful for a future that includes an eternity with Jesus.

P.S………I’m also thankful for pizza, fried chicken, my exercise bike, the Minnesota Vikings (although that fandom brings me pain haha), college football, sunny days, walks, my golden retriever, ribeye steak, music, contact lenses, and these amazing chewy cinnamon granola bars called “Junkless,” basketball shoes, sleeping in (a rarity in my house), Star Wars, laughter, meeting people, diet soda, Caesar salad, heating and air conditioning, scented candles, cars (I love to drive), and nachos.

I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!  May God bless you!
