SUMMARY:Disability Sunday

We are so excited to be linking arms with other SBC state conventions to provide encouragement to and for individuals with disabilities and their families and bring awareness to the need for disability ministry in our churches. \n  \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Understanding Disability Sunday\n \n \n \n \n \n Disability Sunday is a pivotal day for churches to recognize and act upon the biblical mandate found in Luke 14:13\, which calls us to invite and embrace those who are often marginalized\, including individuals with disabilities. This day is not just about awareness but about actively removing obstacles to ensure that the gospel is accessible to all. By participating\, churches demonstrate their commitment to inclusivity and the spiritual growth of every individual. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Disability Sunday Resources\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Download The Prayer Guide\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n COMING SOON!\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Download The Slides\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n COMING SOON!\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Download The Video\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n COMING SOON!\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Download a Bulletin Insert\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n COMING SOON!\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Ideas That Your Church Can USE TO Participate\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \nOrganize a special congregational prayer time focused on disability awareness.\nDistribute our week-long prayer guide dedicated to disability ministry.\nShow a disability awareness video during the service.\nDeliver a sermon on the theology of disability and inclusion.\nHighlight and celebrate existing disability ministries within your church.\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \nHost a workshop on making church facilities more accessible.\nSet up a resource table with information on disability services.\nShare testimonies from individuals with disabilities in your congregation.\nOrganize a community outreach event focused on disability inclusion.\nProvide training for church staff on disability awareness and support.\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \nCreate a bulletin board showcasing disability ministry resources.\nEncourage members to volunteer with local disability organizations.\nPartner with other churches to host a joint Disability Sunday event.\nEncourage youth groups to engage in disability advocacy projects.\nDevelop a church accessibility plan with input from members with disabilities.\n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Contact BCM/D’s disability consultant\, Katie Matthews at kmatthews@bcmd.org\, for further help with making your church accessible to one of the world’s largest unreached people groups\, those with disabilities. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Let us know if your church joins in for a chance to be featured!\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Let us know if your church joins in by tagging us on any of our social media platforms or email Katie Matthews at kmatthews@bcmd.org! \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Facebook\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Join Our Community\n \n \n \n \n \n Share your Disability Sunday experiences by tagging us on social media! \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Instagram\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Follow Us\n \n \n \n \n \n We love seeing how your church is participating. You will be notified once your application is reviewed and accepted. Payment is not due at the time of application. Anyone attending over the age of 18 will be required to complete a background check. Additional family members can be parents or siblings. The cost is determined by the family unit size and not children versus adults. Financial aid is available for families who are unable to cover the cost of camp. Email Kmatthews@bcmd.org for more information. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Volunteer Registration\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n The Everyone Belongs Camp continues to grow and reach new families every year! This means that we need more volunteers to show the love of Christ to our families. That’s where you come in! \nTo volunteer\, you do not need to have any prior professional experience or a specialized background working with disabilities. Each camper will have a caregiver or parent stay with them throughout the weekend. As a volunteer buddy\, your main role is to build friendships\, offer encouragement\, and join your camper in the fun! Volunteers help accompany campers to activities like worship\, Bible study\, games\, arts and crafts\, and more throughout the day on Saturday. \nVolunteers are not responsible for medical care or overnight assistance. Campers and caregivers stay together in individual motel-style rooms\, while volunteers stay in separate lodging areas. Volunteers also never remain alone with campers and will participate in activities within group settings at all times. \nWhether this is your very first camp or you’ve joined us before\, we would absolutely love to have you be part of the Everyone Belongs Camp family! Every volunteer who says “yes” makes it possible for us to welcome and serve another family impacted by disability. Come help us create unforgettable memories\, build meaningful friendships\, and share the life-changing love of Christ with families who need to know they belong. \n**Volunteers must complete a background check and interview process. Payment is not due at the time of application. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Map/Camp Information \nSkycroft Conference Center is located at:9621 Frostown RdMiddletown\, Maryland 21769 \nOur office hours are:Monday-Friday:  8:30 AM – 4:00 PM \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n FAQ’s\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Hidden\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Menu\n Camp Menu (May be subject to slight changes) \nFriday Dinner\n\nBaked Ravioli W/meatballs\nGrilled Chicken\nLinguini Noodles\nAlfredo Sauce\nMarinara Sauce\nItalian Vege\nPeas\nBreadsticks\n\nSaturday Breakfast\n\nRegular Pancakes\nChoc Chip Pancakes\nEggs\nSausage Link\nBacon\nHashbrowns\nStrawberry Topping\n\nSaturday Lunch \n\nBrioche Buns\nBurgers\nChicken Patty\nFried Cheese Curds\nCarrots\nBroccoli Salad\nCheese/Pickles\n\nSaturday Dinner \n\nFried Chicken\nPit Ham\nParsley Potatoes\nMac N Cheese\nCali Vege\nGreen Beans\nCornbread\n\nSunday Breakfast\n\nCroissants\nEgg Patty\nCanadian Bacon\nSausage Link\nEggs\nDiced Potatoes\nGlazed Donut Holes\n\nSunday Lunch \n\nSub Rolls\nRoast Beef (French Dip)\nCod\nCrinkle Cut Fries\nAntigua Vege\nPasta Salad\nProvolone Cheese/Tartar sauce\n\n \n \n \n \n \n Packing List\n Suggested Packing List \n1.
