June serves Baptist Convention of Maryland/Delaware churches in the area of children’s ministry/Bible teaching, primarily helping with Vacation Bible Schools, camps, backyard Bible clubs, seasonal events and more. She assists in developing ministries from the start. She also trains lay leaders and consults with pastors and children’s ministers. June is also passionate about providing churches the information needed to ensure children’s safety, including how to provide security checks for workers. Her focus is ultimately teaching children about Jesus with a goal of each child making a decision to follow Him.

“The years of childhood—birth to preteen—are the most important years of life. They are the foundation upon which all of life is built. It is during these years that a child begins to form concepts and feelings about God, Jesus, Bible, family, and church. Activity learning is used in presenting biblical truths and Christian objectives,” says June.

June was born and raised in Prince George’s County and has lived in Anne Arundel County for many years. Her husband, Ward, a retired pastor who served over 54 years in ministry, was born in Crisfield. “After attending Southeastern Seminary in Wake Forest, N.C., we returned to Maryland for our pastoral ministry. We have served in both established churches and church starts. We have a great love for Maryland and this area,” says June.

Prior to her ministry with the convention, June taught early childhood and elementary education in North Carolina and Maryland, including Baltimore. While teaching in public education, she also worked on several committees and teams to develop and improve programs and curriculums.

In her spare time, June enjoys watching the Baltimore Orioles and other local sports teams, as well as the San Antonio Spurs basketball team, with Ward.

She also enjoys traveling, gardening, reading and cooking—and of course, visiting friends.

June is available to meet with your church to develop ministry strategies, especially in the areas of children’s ministry and safety and security policies and procedures.
