  • Safe Families for Children (Baptist Families and Children's Services)

    Year Round Opportunity:
Safe Families for Children is a Christian movement that expands the community safety net by providing parents in need with mentoring relationships and tangible support in times of crisis.

We believe children will be safe and well-cared for if families in crisis have a network of support. Volunteer families, prompted solely by compassion, mentor "at risk families" where host families open their homes to children which allows parents to work out their problems without having to worry about losing parental custody.

The Safe Families For Children movement is only successful when entire communities come together to support both volunteer and biological families. Volunteers are needed at every level to help provide for the needs of our children.

Volunteer opportunities in your area may include: Host families, material resources, professional services, mentors, case coaches and support groups.

Please visit the national website for Safe Families for Children at www.safe-families.org or contact Melissa Mazeski, mmazeski@baptistfamily.org or at 410-872-1050 Ext 117 for more information on how to become involved in the Safe Families for Children movement in your area!

  • Food Ministry (Open Door Baltimore)

    On-going Opportunity

Description: Throughout the week Open Door Baltimore provides food items to as many people in the impoverished area of East Baltimore as they have supply. Currently the number of food bags disbursed is around 20 per week. However this number fluctuates as the food supply dwindles. Would you consider adopting one month of the year, or one week per month, as the Lord leads, to hold a food drive during your Sunday Services?

After the food is gathered, you would then bring down to Open Door and help stock the shelves. This would give your people a first-hand experience doing ministry in an inner city setting, provide a glimpse of the needs of the area, and provide an avenue to give of the abundance with which many of us find ourselves.
