Vision/Goals:
BCM/D Language Ministry facilitates healthy churches through the planting and strengthening of congregations among as many language groups in the Mid-Atlantic region as God gives us opportunity. Our dream is to expand into two new language groups annually.
Description of Ministry:
The BCM/D Language Ministry strategy is built on “Great Commission” principles. Evangelism (“Going”) involves outreach to people groups where God is at work and where He opens opportunities for new churches. Church Planting (“baptizing” suggests congregationalizing) expands the work among a people group, as well as extending the work to other people groups not yet reached. Discipleship (“teaching them to observe all I have taught you”) assists new churches to grow in a more effective and healthy way.
We currently have ministries among Korean, Hispanic, Chinese, Vietnamese, Haitian, Ethiopian, Filipino, Liberian, Nepalese, Bhutanese, Arabic, East Indian, Burmese (Siyin), Cambodian, Japanese, South Asian and the deaf. Annual retreats are held for some of these groups.
To coordinate and assist in these efforts, the Hispanic Language Pastor's Fellowship, the Korean Language Pastor's Fellowship and the Deaf Council meet regularly to strategize for reaching their people group for Christ as well as a Deaf Council. Both Spanish and Korean Language Educational Institutes have been created for ministry training. In addition Rev. Samuel Cho works specifically with the people groups from Nepal and Bhutan starting language churches and providing education through the Nepalese and Bhutanese Ministry Training Program. Several native language training sessions are available on line through E-quip.
In addition, BCM/D provides catalytic missionaries. Robert Kim assists in focusing upon Asian people groups, Rolando Castro leads in reaching Hispanic people groups and Paul Mulani focuses on reaching other language people groups.
