Internet Evangelism Day (IED) is an annual day of focus (scheduled for June 1) where churches, ministries and individual Christians are encouraged to investigate the many options for sharing the good news online, either on that particular Sunday or any time during the year.
Digital media has transformed the world in the last 15 years. We have entered a new ‘digital communication culture’ where all the rules for effective communication have changed. Even offline!
There are 2+ billion web users, and over 5 billion people use mobile phones (increasingly these are web-equipped). The Web is not just another means of communication, but a hyper-medium that subsumes, links together, and enhances all previous media.
A service focus spot, discussion group, or training day are ideal ways to do this and you can check out IED website for ideas. We also urge churches to appoint a digital advocate - someone who can resource the rest of the fellowship with resources, ideas and training.
