Brief Bios
Mike Huckabee
Former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee is the host of the number one rated weekend hit “HUCKABEE” on the Fox News Channel, and is heard three times daily across the nation on the “Huckabee Report” on the ABC Radio Network, the fast growing new program on the ABC Radio Network in years. He is the author of 6 books, the most recent being “Do the Right Thing,” which spent its first 7 weeks of release in the top ten of the New York Times Bestseller list.
A significant part of his early adult life was spent as a pastor and denominational leader. He became the youngest president ever of the Arkansas Baptist State Convention, the largest denomination in Arkansas. Huckabee led rapidly growing congregations in Pine Bluff and Texarkana.
Huckabee, 53, is an avid musician and is bass player in his rock-n-roll band, Capitol Offense, which has opened for artists such as Willie Nelson and the Charlie Daniels Band, and has played the House of Blues in New Orleans, the Red Rocks Amphitheater in Denver, CO and for two presidential inauguration balls. He is featured each week in the musical segment of his Fox show with the Fox house band, “The Little Rockers.”
Rod Hairston
Rod Hairston is a husband, father, speaker, consultant, and leader, with a passion for developing effective male leadership to influence the family, the church, and the culture.
For ten seasons he has served as a consultant and chaplain to the NFL’s Baltimore Ravens, helping them to build a winning culture among front office executives, coaches, and players. He consults regularly with leaders in the professional sports world, helping them navigate a rapidly changing sports culture and a widening divide between the front office and the field. He speaks often at NCAA and NFL team gatherings, men’s events, and corporate training sessions.
Rod is a catalyst for personal transformation as a consultant to business executives and high-profile athletes, helping them address their private lives in the areas of marriage and family, career transitions, men’s issues, organizational leadership, and spiritual growth. Men from all walks of life have been impacted by his discerning approach to male-specific challenges.
Andy Westmoreland
Dr. Andrew Westmoreland became the 18th president of Samford University on June 1, 2006. Samford University, founded in 1841, is Alabama's largest privately-supported institution of higher learning.
Dr. Westmoreland holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in political science and a doctorate in higher education administration. A native of Arkansas, he is married to Dr. Jeanna Westmoreland. They have one daughter, Riley, who is an undergraduate student at Samford.
Prior to his selection as president by the Samford Board of Trustees, he served in Arkansas at Ouachita (Wash’-a-taw) Baptist University for 27 years in several capacities, including eight years as president.
In addition to his duties as president, Dr. Westmoreland teaches courses in political science on a regular basis. He serves as a member of many boards for charities and corporations, and he is an author and speaker.
